Meet Chibuike!
(chee-’bee-kay)
Chibuike is a lifelong Oak Parker, a first-generation American, and a dedicated public servant who has spent the past four years working to make Oak Park a more inclusive, engaged, and forward-thinking community.
As the Community Engagement Manager for the Oak Park Public Library, Chibuike builds connections that strengthen our village. Whether it’s expanding access to resources, fostering meaningful conversations, or advocating for community-driven solutions, his work is rooted in equity, inclusion, and collaboration.
Before joining the library, Chibuike owned and operated a collegiate and professional sports videography firm, using his platform to advocate for representation and inclusion in athletics and business. His time in corporate management at a national telecom provider reinforced his commitment to mentorship, amplifying underrepresented voices, and ensuring that everyone—especially those closest to the challenges—has a seat at the table.

Rooted in Oak Park, Committed to the Future
Chibuike’s passion for service is deeply personal. As a child, he watched his Nigerian-born parents work tirelessly—his mother completing her master’s degree while working full-time, and his father juggling three jobs while finishing his own. Their sacrifices ensured that Chibuike and his brothers had access to Oak Park’s exceptional schools and opportunities. That experience shaped his belief that education, equity, and opportunity should be accessible to all.
A proud graduate of Hatch Elementary School, Emerson (now Brooks) Middle School, and OPRF High School, Chibuike later earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Briar Cliff University in Iowa.
Beyond his public service, Chibuike remains dedicated to youth mentorship in Oak Park and Chicago and advocating for the next generation of leaders.
Family, Community and Finding Joy in the Everyday
When he’s not working, Chibuike is an avid reader, keeping up with everything from politics to sports to emerging tech. He and his wife and kids are die-hard fans of the Bears, Bulls, and Cubs—though they still have love for the Sox (as long as they’re not playing the Cubs). Family bike rides often lead to discovering a great local eatery, and whether at home or out in the community, there’s always music playing.
Four years ago, Chibuike stepped up to serve because he believed Oak Park could be an even stronger, more connected, and more equitable community. Today, he’s proud of the progress made—and he’s ready to continue the work.
